On the F3 this friday coming home one of these flew past with a xr6 kidding himself well behind anyway when he saw me he merged left and slowed down so I had to overtake..... I looked down and saw 230 and shat myself so backed off he kept going well past 240 I rekon. I didnt get a good look at the back so couldnt tell what type of S3 it was. I didn't think they had that much grunt.

Seems they have! I quite like Audi`s but not enough to part with that much cash Will be interesting to see what happens with the next generation of VXR Astra or if Holden pursue the Torana that was featured on the current issue of Motor.
There isn`t that much more grunt in the current S3 than the VXR ( and it weighs more ) but it seems to get it down to the bitumen better according to all reports..guess that is where the all wheel drive is an advantage.
PS How did the car feel at that speed? I have not had mine anywhere near that I tend to just give it spurts here and there, at 160k`s it cetainly does not feel you are travelling that fast.
I remember having my Six Pack Charger at 200k`s and it really felt on the edge even in a straight line! And that was with uprated front sway bar a rear sway bar and uprated shocks.

Let me be the grandpa in this thread and remind everyone speed can kill and we don't support behaviour that is breaking our road rules on this forum. Temper this discussion carefully and be mindful that it is an open and public forum. Various authorities can and do frequent other forums i run and i'm sure that it would be no different here. On topic, the Audi S3 is a great hot hatch, it's just priced too far out for most to really consider... only those with a 'I WANT ONE' approach to the S3 could justify buying it. Cheers, Miyagi

yo kabel... dont forget the charger is a fair bit bigger and heavier all round and i would reckon the suspension setup even though you had all the trimmings would not be as good as our standard settings also the steering would be way more loose than ours... yes i have driven a charger b4 (my brothers) back on topic... i never speed i havent had my car upto any ridiculous speeds yet but if i did it would be on the race track

Cheers, Miyagi Your right thats why I shat myself, not because of the actual speed but because Ive been on that soapbox before, even though it was an empty road I felt quilty. Going for my camms soon then I can take my red rocket for some super sprints then I'll discuss how she feels at speed. That S3 had another badge on it couldnt make it out though is there a special edition?

I saw the S3 at the motorshow, quite a good looking car, but for that amount there are much better options. I beat an a3 sportback from a set of lights the other day... but i think they are more comparable to the gti.....
I havent experienced any excessive speeds yet, i'll leave that to a track..... but i love merging onto a highway especially with the pickup from 70 to 110... bloody amazing....
What are the oran park track days like?

I was talking to a couple of guys at work who race. Im told the supersprints are the way to go all you need is a cams license, helmet etc. 2 cars on the track not against each other but the clock. The licensing has changed and has different levels so is cheaper now for amatuer racing. So im told. Once I go through it I'll post all the info.

Mohawk the Charger is actually lighter than it looks, people would be surprised and yes the steering on vals ain`t the greatest even though the Six Pack Charger was fitted with a quicker ratio box than all other models. I agree the VXR setup is far superior.
My brother-in-law has an E49 and I attend most of the hotrod, musclecar and classic car shows in Perth and while I feel nostalgia for another Charger there is no way I would ever own one again For the price of a genuine Six Pack I could buy three VXR`s !
Wouldn`t it be nice to see the price of a VXR in twenty years time be comparable to the `Musclecar Price Escalator` of today Although I doubt that will happen, but one can live in hope.................

Ill be going next wednesday with monica the HSV saleswoman here at hunter. She'll get me signed up. I'll get my cams through the club then you get an interim whilst your license is processed.
We definately want as many VXR's there as possible so I can pressure the HSV rep into getting upgrades and merchandise for us.

Getting the floor mats at this stage through HSV would be a bonus. even a Floor mat with a HSV logo them would be enough. But agree i want to see upgrades for the cars.
Next Wednesday ? i the next HSV Club meet is on in Feb from the website.
