Yeh it is a really nice car... 300bhp... almost all wheel drive... but i think that a VXR with a RARB, LSD, and Eibach Pro springs they would be a close match up in handling terms... Performance wise put a map and exhaust on ours and it would be pretty close too! Though I think we would need Stage 3 or 4 if the RS was mapped aswell!

Yeh, I know modded we are there on paper and handling (with the right bits) would be close I guess...not sure about the 'trickery' with the RS handling but Im sure it has some serious hidden talent there too otherwise people wouldn't rave on about it so much. High demand in the UK for these little things. Am keen to see the vids once there are a few on the road - road/track face off's between a stage 2 or 3 VXR and an RS.. its going to happen for sure.
Its not really a superior power/handling thing for me - its just a damn fine looking car (IMO) and has all the plastic bits you could ever want in a hot hatch with the grunt to match.
I love my car - but this thing with my photoshop mods really does it for me hey....not to mention the exclusive nature of one in Aust.
Reality check though - Import costs puts you in another league over here though price wise v car for money...so isnt really worth it unless you're loaded!!

Hey Tim,
I thought I was the only one thats obssessed with this beast man. I have pretty much seen all recent test drive review and clips.
Basically, they say...
1. Immense power delivery (more so than the new STI)
2. It handles like a 4WD and drags u out of corners even foot down
3. Its almost an adv its a front drive--> light yet behaves like 4WD ( no torque steer, understeer).
Though all reviews were done in dry so who knows...
I was pretty pissed off wif my car in the wet today so if I had the dough, I ll ship it no Qs. I ll sleep with it for the first week LOL
Works out to be around 50k for the car??? Such a bargain if it is, makes our car SooOOoO expensive for wut we paid.

Yes Mate - more than a little obsessed...been a quiet day at work
so looked on youtube for vids etc... Last time I became this obsessed - I bought a VXR!..trouble is..this really is not an affordable or practical obsession that has any kind of realistic resolution after talking with an import company.. (+ I still love my car which gives me ample 'grins' without 'revo knuckle')
I think it still torque steers by all accounts...but its probably nothing compared to what we are used to.
Read the review in the latest EVO and also Top gear mag..Both rate it.

FPV need to learn from HSV and bring the damn RS to AU, do a limited run if they want and charge a premium... ship to order. They'd have a backlog of orders, mine included.

Yeah, wouldn't be too far off considering they're not getting many. Pity most of them probably won't hit the roads and will be kept in garages somewhere, especially at thier $60 asking price.

Taken from the XR5 Forum...
The cars will be coming in standard RS spec with the addition of the luxury pack that includes the rain sensing wipers, auto headlights, etc. 224kw and 440nm torque. The original numbers showed 100 green, 75 white and 75 blue. This number has been lowered to 220 over the weekend, but I haven't heard from ford if that number has changed. I don't even think every dealer knows about it yet.
At this stage every dealer will get the opportunity to have 1 each and with the original numbers the top x number of xr5 dealers would get a 2nd. There is no confirmation of what colour will go where, and as Barnesy has said, good
luck getting a transfer to another dealer once someone has their mitts on it.
The car will be $59990 plus onroads, but that price can probably change. It will be the 5 pot motor.

$59990 is expensive but it worth paying it.....and i m just guessing that if there will be small number of rs are coming here you can not make a deal to lower the price

Yeah, no chance to get it cheaper with only 220 coming in. They will all be sold before they even arive i'd imagine.

What a fkn shame is all I can say. I would have bought one if they had sorted it all out a while ago and brought in sensible numbers...but the pause was painful and now I'm luke warm even if there was one unclaimed. I will hopefully be getting a ride in one while back in the UK next month... I hope it doesn't blow me away - or I will come back frustrated Im sure.
$60k is a lot of money though for a car with power on par with our stage 3's....then you have to go in the wallet again to get the gains there getting back home (impressive gains mind you)
How do you get on the list I wonder.. I called FPV 4 mths ago and they said no go for this one..and wouldnt assist on a personal import - but it seems ford have changed there mind.
Interesting.

They are coming in through Ford Australia, not FPV. The only way to get one is call a dealership and pay a deposit. Each dealership is only meant to get 1 to sell.
