Was out for a drive today and decided to stop in at a local car dealer to see what was new and cool. They were a combined holden, mitsubishi and skoda dealership. They were all coo'ing over the VXR as they are not a HSV dealer... drove it into the parking lot and 3 salesmen came over and had a look over it.
Anyway we got to talking about new cars (was a slow morning) and I had a look at some of their cars they had on the showroom floor...
* New EVO X MR with SSC dual clutch semi auto
* Skoda Octavia RS
* Pagani Zonda convertible (my mouth was hanging open)
After 20 mins or so of chatting, I was invited to get my license scanned... and I went for a few test drives.... sadly not in the zonda

But I did take the EVO X for a spin, followed by the Octavia.
I will start with the Octavia...basically its a golf gti with a liftback boot built on the jetta floorpan... interior was ok, leather a little cheap, but for under 40k drive away (6sp manual) it drove quite well. Not as razor sharp as the VXR but as a medium sized family car it would be perfect. DSG out soon.
Now for the beast.. the EVO X MR... compared to the VXR, its a totally new ballgame. Immense acceleration, immense torque, immense speed, and what a noise! I drove the twin clutch auto, it makes the VXR gearbox (and VW DSG) feel antiquated... instant shifts, awesome ratios dropping you into the power zone on every shift. If I could justify another 40k I would trade the VXR in a heartbeat.
The dealer with me commented on how well I handled the car and how it was nice to see it driven to its potential compared to most of his buyers for the old model... he said the normal test drivers are middle aged managers in mid life crisis who have trouble drivinig forwards, or rich kids who write them off in 12 months.
Anyway, that was my saturday morning, how bout u?
